February Prayer

God of the winter sky, fill the night with stars,

for I need to lift my eyes and raise my weary soul

from shadows and short days,

from dreary tasks and unending lists.

Shine bright lights into the darkness

and remind me that new life and dormant seeds

gather strength in the depths of the earth.

Open me to the newness inside me

Waiting to be born. Amen.

Prayer for Illness

O Lord, for _______ who has been ill, please send Your gentle touch through those who provide care; grant restful sleep; surround him/her with a sense of Your caring presence. May _______ be enfolded in the prayers of friends and his/her church family. Amen

Prayer of Gratitude

O Creator God, Today I want to say "THANKS!" for many things:
For the wonderful, complex world around us, fascinating in every season, but especially as seasons move ahead;
For life and enough health to participate in the ever changing life around me;
For friends and family, near and far, and especially for the good relationships we share: Please bless my family.
For the stranger who shared a smile and my co-worker's positive comment;
For work, salaried and volunteer, that provides a sense of purpose and fulfillment;
For enough money to pay today's bills and have a bit to share;
For enough food to feed my family and shelter to protect them;
For the pet that welcomes me home with joy;
For my church where I can worship, grow spiritually and be involved in service;
AND especially, God, for You, Your love, grace and presence forming the base of my life.
Thank you - and may I wish these blessings for all the world. Amen
